Combining Wealth Production with Social Protection

ENDIAMA is a mining operator that defends the public interest in diamonds’field, which has as its social object the prospection, research, evaluation, exploitation, treatment, and marketing of diamonds.

The company’s liberation from activities typical of the public institute paves the way to optimize the structure and operation of ENDIAMAin its role as operator, and in the strategic prioritization of its production, thus, making it a more robust company, a reference in the economy and sustainable development of the county, more competitive and on equal footing with the major business groups in the world.

Angola, currently, produces about 9.08 million carats, and ENDIAMA has been investing heavily to increase domestic production to reach 13.8 million carats by 2023.

With these changes, ENDIAMA will be better prepared to preserve its position as the leading company in the Angolan diamond industry and achieve the goal of placing Angola among the 3 largest diamond producers in the world.

Commitment
Despite the changes governing the new statute, the institution ensures the contractual relationship with its employees, without any losses regarding jobs and due remuneration. ENDIAMA, the Angolan Public Diamond Company has a workforce of 463 employees, 368 working at the headquarters (Luanda) and 95 distributed throughout the delegations of Dundo (21), Saurimo (14), Nzagi (55) and Lucapa (05). With the construction of the Saurimo Diamond Hub in Lunda-Sul, an infrastructure valued at US$ 77 million, will guarantee the conditions for the country to achieve the goal of internally cutting up 20% of the rough diamonds exploited, against the current number of about 2%, in addition to generating more than 5,000 jobs.
