Jewellery & Gem WORLD Hong Kong defies market headwinds with 10% increase in buyer traffic
Industry’s No.1 marketplace draws 55,000+ visitors from 140+ countries and regions

Jewellery & Gem WORLD Hong Kong 2025 (JGW) recorded a 10% increase in buyer attendance over the previous edition – a cautiously positive signal against a backdrop of complex market realities, Informa Markets Jewellery announced today.

Despite ongoing trade tensions, supply chain disruptions and high gold prices rattling the luxury goods market, the world’s No.1 jewellery sourcing destination drew 55,176 visitors from 141 countries and regions during its week-long run across two venues.

“While this edition’s attendance growth reflects our community’s resilience, we understand these numbers don’t tell the complete story. Having said that, the presence of suppliers and buyers at JGW, despite the business uncertainties that have dominated show floor conversations, demonstrates our sector’s adaptability,” said Celine Lau, Director of Jewellery Fairs at Informa Markets Jewellery. “Ultimately, the September Fair continues to be an indispensable fixture in the industry calendar – a definitive destination where buyers not only secure their Christmas and New Year inventory but also thoughtfully map out their purchasing plans for the year ahead, mindful of ongoing market challenges.”

Exhibitors are responding to evolving market conditions with strategic pricing and more accessible product offerings such as lower karat gold items – balancing cautious optimism with practical business approaches for the coming year, Lau continued.

“We’re seeing a blend of necessity and measured confidence. Feedback from exhibitors suggests some buyers participated primarily to place orders for immediate delivery, sustain relationships and collect market intelligence while waiting for greater clarity on international trade policies that could significantly impact pricing structures,” she explained.

JGW introduced a number of signature attractions, including a dedicated jewellery metals exhibit, a celebration of Informa’s Sustainability Awards champions and a rich content programme of 20+ events featuring ASEAN’s industry leaders and experts on jewellery metals, diamonds, coloured gemstones, and jewellery design and production, among others.

Buyer traffic

Held from 15 to 19 September at the AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE) and 17 to 21 September at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), the “Six Shows. One Trip” B2B marketplace featured 3,000+ exhibitors from 44 countries and regions spread across 40+ pavilions, including the trade’s biggest names in diamonds, coloured gemstones, pearls and other precious materials; jewellery manufacturing, and equipment, tools and packaging.

Of the 55,176 unique buyers, 69.24% were from outside Hong Kong with notable increases in attendance from “new” markets including Africa, the Middle East and Australasia. (“Unique” visitors are only counted once regardless of the number of visits they make during the exhibition period.)

Core attractions

JGW dazzled visitors not just with its exhibits, but with unforgettable highlights celebrating jewellery metals, sustainability and rich opportunities for learning and connection.

The crown jewel of these special features was the debut of “Sublime Shine: Metal Innovations in the Art of Jewellery.” This exhibit, presented by the Jewellery & Gem Knowledge Community, unveiled innovations behind gold, platinum, silver and other metals in fine jewellery creation. Visitors explored 10 stations in this experiential zone, brought to life through the support of two Industry Partners – the World Gold Council (WGC) and Platinum Guild International – along with Premium Sponsor Yuen Kee Bullion Company Limited, and Sponsors Osmium-Institut Germany and Hatta New World Company Limited. Featuring live demonstrations of traditional goldsmithing and granulation techniques, the exhibit welcomed 3,648 visitors across five days.

Complementing Sublime Shine was an expanded gold jewellery zone featuring 40+ exhibitors from China, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Malaysia. This section served as the premier destination for discovering innovative trends and technological advancements in gold jewellery and accessories manufacturing. A special highlight was WGC’s Hard Pure Gold Pavilion, making its debut appearance at JGW. Beyond this area, gold jewellery exhibitors were positioned throughout the show floor, giving buyers opportunities to explore diverse collections and build new business connections.

Informa’s commitment to responsible business shone at the Sustainability Awards 2025 by JWA, which culminated in a Recognition Ceremony during JGW’s cocktail reception. The event celebrated seven Award Recipients and 13 Finalists across nine countries and regions for their outstanding sustainability achievements. These leaders later shared valuable insights at the Sustainability Heroes Panel Series – recordings of which are now available on the Jewellery & Gem Knowledge Community portal.

JGW also served as the venue for key industry gatherings, notably hosting the ASEAN Gems and Jewellery Trade Association (AGJA) Conference in Hong Kong for the first time. The seven-day programme also featured over 20 professional sessions and seminars, enhancing the educational value for all visitors.

The marketplace offered diverse product categories catering to every buyer’s needs. At AWE, trading floors displayed an exceptional array of loose diamonds, coloured gemstones, pearls and other precious materials. The Fine Gem hub became a magnet for luxury brands, discerning designers and serious collectors seeking extraordinary stones – from rare fancy colour diamonds to the finest rubies, emeralds, sapphires and pearls.

Finished jewellery took centre stage at HKCEC, where JGW: Fine Design transformed the Grand Hall into a presentation of masterful high jewellery featuring investment-quality gems. The CORE Pavilion celebrated Hong Kong’s world-renowned manufacturing excellence, while Premier highlighted innovative ateliers whose collections ranged from timeless classics to contemporary statements and boundary-pushing designs.

Specialty zones – including the Fei Cui Gallery, Antique & Vintage Jewellery, Designer Arena and International Fine Jewellery – further enriched the visitor experience. The thoughtful arrangement of trade association pavilions and country-specific sections created an intuitive navigation system, enabling buyers to efficiently discover their desired treasures within this comprehensive marketplace.

In 2026, JGW will be held from 15 to 19 September at the AWE and from 17 to 21 September at the HKCEC.

Meanwhile, SEASONS | Autumn Fashion Jewellery & Accessories Fair, which was co-located with JGW in Halls 5BC of the HKCEC, recorded close to 12,300 visitors, with international and Mainland China buyers forming the majority of attendees.

Celebrated for its dynamic atmosphere and innovative offerings, the Fall edition reinforced its position as Asia’s premier destination for sourcing fashion-forward collections and specialised products designed for Spring/Summer 2026 and beyond.

The 2026 edition of SEASONS | Autumn is set for 17 to 21 September at the HKCEC.
