Informa Markets and MCH Group have announced a strategic collaboration to launch the Basilia Jewellery & Watch Fair, a new international trade platform designed to connect the global jewellery, gemstone, and watch industries.

Scheduled to debut in April 2027 at Messe Basel, the event aims to serve as a meeting point for businesses from Asia, Europe, and other key international markets. The inaugural edition is expected to host more than 400 exhibitors, bringing together manufacturers, brands, designers, retailers, wholesalers, distributors, and sourcing professionals from across the value chain.

The organisers said Basilia has been conceived to address the growing need for stronger connections between Asian manufacturing hubs and European markets. The event will focus on facilitating sourcing opportunities, business networking, and strategic partnerships in an increasingly interconnected global industry.

Unlike traditional exhibition formats, Basilia will feature themed districts and neighbourhoods dedicated to different sectors of the industry, including jewellery, diamonds, coloured gemstones, watches, technology solutions, and regional pavilions. The concept is intended to reflect the diversity of the global jewellery and watch trade while allowing exhibitors to showcase their unique identities.

Basel was selected as the host city due to its central European location, strong transportation links, and established exhibition infrastructure. Organisers also highlighted the support of local stakeholders, including hospitality and tourism partners, in accommodating international participants.

In addition to its commercial focus, Basilia will include seminars, panel discussions, and industry conferences, creating a platform for knowledge sharing and dialogue on the future of the jewellery and watch sectors.

The new event marks the first collaboration between Informa Markets and MCH Group and is expected to become a significant addition to the international jewellery trade fair calendar.
