74th Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair Opens in Grand Style, Expected to Generate More Than USD 160 Million in Trade
Ms. Kirida Bhaopichitr, Vice Minister for Commerce, presided over the opening of the 74th Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC), Bangkok. The fair is organized by the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) as the main organizer, in collaboration with the Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (GIT), with support from government and private-sector agencies as well as 17 key trade associations in the industry.
This year’s fair brings together more than 1,300 exhibitors from Thailand and overseas, occupying approximately 2,800 booths across the entire G and LG floors, including Halls 1–8 and Plenary Halls 1–3 on Level 1. The event is expected to attract more than 45,000 visitors and generate over USD 160 million in trade, equivalent to more than THB 5 billion.
Ms. Kirida said, “Thailand is now recognized as one of the world’s leading gems and jewelry trading hubs. The country ranks first globally in exports of cut and polished colored gemstones and second in silver jewelry exports. These strengths demonstrate the depth and competitiveness of Thailand’s gems and jewelry industry, not only in terms of quality, but also through our longstanding international trade relationships and connections. As a result, gems and jewelry remain among Thailand’s top three export industries globally.
“The Ministry of Commerce is committed to building on these strengths by developing Thailand as an open, trusted and globally connected trading platform. The Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair is an important mechanism in this effort, bringing together manufacturers, traders, designers, buyers and business partners from Thailand and around the world to connect, explore business opportunities and establish new partnerships. This is fully aligned with the Ministry of Commerce’s ‘Market Leads Production’ policy.
“This year, the Fair occupies the full Halls 1–8 and Plenary Halls 1–3 at QSNCC, reflecting its continued growth and reinforcing Bangkok Gems’ position as an international hub for gems and jewelry trade. The Fair also introduces the new Designer Zone, showcasing design and creativity while connecting emerging designers with manufacturers and buyers from around the world.”
In addition to its extensive product showcase, the 74th Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair features a range of special highlights and activities. These include The Craft of Brilliance, an exhibition tracing the history and evolution of Thai gems and jewelry craftsmanship; The One To Watch, showcasing creative works by emerging designers who participated in the reality competition The Secret Gems: Discovering Thailand’s Top Jewelry Creators; the Networking Reception, designed to foster international business connections; GIT’s on-site gemstone testing and certification services; and a series of seminars offering insights and knowledge for industry professionals.
