41st World Diamond Congress Opens in Singapore, Bringing Global Natural Diamond Industry Together

The 41st World Diamond Congress officially opened in Singapore yesterday, bringing together leading diamantaires, manufacturers, miners, retailers, government representatives and technology experts from across the global natural diamond value chain for four days of discussions on the future of the industry.

Jointly organised by the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) and the International Diamond Manufacturers Association (IDMA), the Congress is recognised as the industry's premier international forum, held every three years to address the opportunities and challenges shaping the natural diamond sector.

The opening ceremony featured addresses from Hon. Bogolo Joy Kenewendo, Minister of Minerals and Energy of the Republic of Botswana, and H.E. Dr. Jânio da Rosa Corrêa Victor, Secretary of State for Mineral Resources of the Republic of Angola, alongside senior industry leaders representing every segment of the global diamond pipeline.

Over the course of the Congress, delegates are expected to participate in strategic discussions covering responsible sourcing, consumer demand, technological innovation, artificial intelligence, provenance and traceability, generational change, marketing strategies and the evolving dynamics of global diamond markets. Sessions will also examine Africa's expanding role across the diamond value chain and growth opportunities within Asia's consumer markets.

Today's programme will feature presentations and panel discussions involving organisations including the Natural Diamond Council (NDC), Jewelers of America, Get-Diamonds, and the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), focusing on strengthening consumer confidence and reinforcing the enduring value proposition of natural diamonds.

A major highlight of this year's Congress will be the election of a new WFDB President and Executive Committee, who will lead the Federation through its next chapter at a pivotal time for the global natural diamond industry.

Held every three years since 1947, the World Diamond Congress continues to serve as the industry's foremost platform for collaboration, dialogue and collective action, reinforcing its commitment to innovation, sustainability and the long-term growth of the natural diamond sector.
