Mehul Shah, President of WFDB, addressed the CIBJO Centenary celebrations on the sidelines of the VicenzaOro gems and jewellery exhibition in Italy by endorsing the use of the terminology "Synthetic Diamonds" instead of "Lab grown Diamonds" as a global term. He also appealed to trade bodies and governments to prescribe declarations on the usage of terminologies related to synthetic diamonds in the local language for better understanding and consumer awareness. He suggested launching an identification mark for natural diamonds such as the "Natural Diamond Mark," citing the Woolmark as an example, which is a globally renowned certification mark that guarantees authenticity with respect to wool.

The Dubai Diamond Conference 2026 is slated to be organised between the 25th to 27th of October in Dubai with the theme: A Strategic Rest, Reigniting Desire, Unlocking New Value.
