The French government has extended its highest recognition to the global gem and jewellery fraternity, as the 2025 CIBJO Congress will convene in Paris under the official patronage of Emmanuel Macron, President of the Republic of France. The event is scheduled for October 27–29, 2025, and will mark a defining moment in the Confederation’s history.
The 2025 edition is especially significant as it ushers in the Centenary Year of CIBJO, founded in Paris in 1926 as a European organisation and reconstituted in 1961 as the World Jewellery Confederation. A century later, Congress returns to its birthplace, reflecting on a legacy of unifying the industry while setting directions for the future.
The host this year is the Union Française de la Bijouterie, Joaillerie, Orfèvrerie, des Pierres & des Perles (UFBJOP), the national body representing France’s jewellery, goldsmithing, gemstone, and pearl industries. The Paris Congress is expected to bring together delegates, experts, and industry leaders from around the world to deliberate on standards, education, and sustainable practices.
At the heart of the programme will be the annual meetings of CIBJO’s sectoral commissions, responsible for maintaining and updating the globally recognised Blue Books—the definitive directories of industry standards for diamonds, coloured gemstones, pearls, precious metals, coral, gemmological laboratories, and responsible sourcing. Discussions will also spotlight initiatives of the World Jewellery Confederation Education Foundation (WJCEF) and reinforce CIBJO’s enduring collaboration with the United Nations, particularly in advancing development goals and responsible business conduct.
With its centennial celebrations launching in Paris under the auspices of the French Presidency, the 2025 CIBJO Congress promises not only to honour the organisation’s illustrious past but also to chart a bold and responsible course for the future of the global gem and jewellery industry.
