African Diamond Producers Association [ADPA] HEADQUARTERS OFFICIALLY OPENS IN LUANDA, ANGOLA

The African Diamond Producers Association (ADPA) officially inaugurated its headquarters on 27 February 2025 in a ceremony led by Hon. Diamantino Pedro Azevedo, Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas of Angola, and Hon. Winston Chitando, Minister of Mines and Minerals Development of Zimbabwe and Chair of ADPA (2023-2024).

The Inauguration Ceremony commenced with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, a guided tour of the new office facilities, and formal proceedings featuring presentations from various key dignitaries. In his welcoming remarks, Minister Azevedo emphasized that the establishment of ADPA’s headquarters reflects Angola’s commitment to supporting the Association. He acknowledged the collaborative efforts of three key government bodies: the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in realizing this milestone.

Hon. Chitando expressed gratitude to the Government of Angola for providing a fully equipped headquarters, highlighting that this achievement demonstrates the power of shared vision and cooperation among member states. Other speakers included Hon. Juciene de Sousa, Secretary of State for Budget, who delivered remarks on behalf of Hon. Vera de Sousa, Minister of Finance of Angola, underscoring the strategic importance of ADPA in the region.

The ceremony concluded with closing remarks by Mrs. Ellah Muchemwa, ADPA’s Executive Director, who thanked the Government of Angola and its three different ministries for executing Angola’s commitment in ensuring ADPA’s permanent office is established and all the supports required are provided. Mrs Muchemwa reaffirmed the Association’s dedication to fostering collaboration among African diamond-producing nations, stating that ADPA will continue to speak with one voice for the interest of its member states.

Ministers, senior government officials, embassy representatives from four member states, and senior executives from Angola’s state-owned enterprises attended the inauguration ceremony, which concluded successfully with a networking cocktail, fostering valuable connections among the distinguished guests.
