PHILIPPE MELLIER - INVESTMENT WILL BE KEY TO CAPTURING LONG-TERM SUCCESS

Addressing a Sightholder reception this evening, during the first De Beers Sight of 2015, Philippe Mellier, Chief Executive, De Beers Group, said that maintaining success in the diamond industry is dependent upon investment to sustain supply, finance and demand. Mr Mellier pointed to De Beers’ investment in mining projects in Botswana, South Africa and Canada to deliver sustainability of supply, in its distribution strategy to ensure the most efficient ways of bringing the product to market, and in the sustainability of demand through Forevermark.

IDE to host 300 Israeli exhibitors at International Diamond Week

Around 300 members of the Israel Diamond Exchange will be exhibiting their diamond stocks on the trading floor of the Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) at the International Diamond Week (IDW) in February. They will be joined on the IDE trading by members of the Diamond Dealers Club of New York, the Antwerp Diamond Bourse (Beurs voor Diamanthandel).

"We are currently completing the final layout of the trading hall to accommodate not only the exhibiting companies, but also the hundreds of buyers who have registered for the Winter edition of the event," said Moti Fluk, IDE Treasurer and Head of the IDW Organizing Committee. "It is a real challenge to turn the trading halls into a temporary exhibition space to facilitate traffic of close to 2,000 people." Gem-A and Gemewizard announce new Coloured Stones Grading Course

The Gemmological Association of Great Britain (Gem-A) announced the official introduction of its brand new Coloured Stones Grading Course as launched at their annual Conference from 1 -4 November 2014, at the Business Design Centre, Islington. The new course, run in association with colour communication and gem grading specialists, Gemewizard, is designed to provide jewellers, gemmologists and enthusiasts with an introduction to the world of colour grading for gemstones, as well as providing tools to suggest the pricing of gems.
