Antwerp Diamond Bank wind-down: AWDC investigating potential solution

“There is still room to find a solution, to keep the financing levels of the Antwerp diamond sector at market conform levels.” This is AWDC’s reaction to the news that KBC will proceed with an ‘orderly wind-down’ of the Antwerp Diamond Bank.

“As an umbrella organization we have been duly following the developments in this matter,” says Margaux Donckier, AWDC spokesperson. “The divestiture of the Antwerp Diamond Bank (ADB) in 2009 was a precondition for KBC to be saved by means of state aid.”

About one-third of Antwerp diamond dealers are financed by ADB. These are primarily small and medium size diamond dealers, for whom finding other sources of financing presents challenges. More

FUSION/HENNIG tenders full rough production from KAO mine (LESOTHO) In DUBAI

The Dubai Diamond Exchange (DDE), a DMCC platform, is pleased to host the Fusion/Hennig September KAO Rough Diamond Tender.

The tender is taking place for the first time in Dubai on September 21-24, 2014 and offers the full run-of-mine production of the KAO mine located in Lesotho. It will comprise of over 30,000 carats encompassing the full range of sizes and assortments, including large and special stones. Included are three exceptional stones; a 23ct pink, 35ct yellow and 51ct yellow.

On the occasion of the diamond tender Minster of Mining, The Honorable Tlali Khasu, also met with Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman, DMCC, to discuss future opportunities. More
