DE BEERS LAUNCHES ZIMELE BUSINESS HUB

Barend Petersen, Chairman of De Beers Consolidated Mines (DBCM), recently launched the latest De Beers Zimele Business Hub in Cape Town, South Africa.

The first in the Western Cape region, the De Beers Marine Zimele Business Hub joins others operated by DBCM to support budding entrepreneurs in the Northern Cape, Limpopo, Gauteng and the Free State.

Mr Petersen said: “De Beers has supported many initiatives from historically disadvantaged, and often the most marginalised, people in South Africa. We are proud to have funded 233 new SMEs in 2014, thereby creating 2,335 jobs in rural and regional urban areas with loans amounting to R60.7 million. I am encouraged by the progress to date and know that De Beers and Anglo American Group share a vision for Zimele with South Africa to transform and build a better future," More

Dubai Diamond Exchange (DDE) to Host Second Dubai Diamond Conference 21-22 April 2015

Dubai Diamond Exchange - DDE, a DMCC platform, will host the second Dubai Diamond Conference - ‘DDC’ 21 - 22 April 2015. The conference will be held at Almas Tower; the Middle East’s tallest commercial tower and home to over 1,000 diamond, precious metals, precious stones and jewellery companies. The two-day conference will bring together international leaders of the diamond industry ranging from African Ministers to traders, financiers and world-renowned jewellers.

World Gold Council appoints Roland Wang as Managing Director in China

World Gold Council, the market development organisation for the gold industry, announces the appointment of Mr. Roland Wang as Managing Director, China. He will work closely with Mr. Albert Cheng, Managing Director, Far East, to further develop the Chinese market. Previously Mr. Wang was President and General Manager of Jingyi Gold Co. Ltd., a gold investment and jewellery company based in China, where he led a team of professionals which worked closely with the China Gold Association, Shanghai Gold Exchange and other practitioners in the industry.

Between 1995 and 2011 as General Manager for the World Gold Council in China Mr. Wang and his team played a significant role in the opening-up of the Chinese gold market.
