Gemological Science International (GSI) announced recently that it has added Virtual Diamond Examination (VDX), a 360-degree HD video to its list of proprietary, high-tech software applications for diamond grading and reports. “GSI’s VDX Report not only reduces paperwork, but it allows access to 360-degree HD video of the diamond or gemstone and the grading report from anywhere in the world. I think our customers will be happy to know that it will come at no additional cost,” said GSI Executive Vice President Debbie Azar.

“Starting July 2016, VDX Report will be gradually rolled out as a part of our grading report portfolio for all loose diamonds and gemstones graded in all GSI offices worldwide. We plan to expand this product to the line of our jewelry reports in the very near future,” said Azar.

“After testing various products on the market, we decided to utilize OGI Diapix for the VDX application,” says Azar. “We found the Diapix to have the best quality and speed, making it the paramount choice for us,” she adds.   more

The International Gemological Institute (IGI) recently hosted its sixth annual D-Show in Goa, India, June 9-12. The national buyer-seller knowledge meet, held at the scenic Lalit Golf & Spa Resort, welcomed more than 100 retailers and 24 manufacturers from across India. During the course of the invitation-only event, a record number of over 2,000 meetings took place between manufacturers and retailers, with jewelers hailing from more than 35 cities across the country. Initiated by the Institute in 2012, the objective of IGI D-Shows is to further develop India’s diamond and gemstone trade by facilitating clear communication and providing key educational platforms.    more

Women's empowerment in regional jewelry and gemstone industry come under focus at Latin American Diamond and Jewelry Week

The empowerment of women in Latin America's jewelry, diamond and gemstone sectors came under the spotlight at a special seminar, organized as part of the Second Latin American Diamond and Jewelry Week at the World Jewelry Hub in Panama City on June 23.
Some 50 women from multiple countries joined in the round-table discussion. They hailed from Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, Turkey, Romania, Italy and Panama. All are owners of important brands in their home nations.  more
