Doha Jewellery & Watches Exhibition 2015 confirms most respected industry brands

The 2015 event celebrates the appeal of timeless elegance of luxurious jewellery and watches from all over the world

Qatar Tourism Authority confirmed the participation of a number of international and regional jewellery and watches brands at the 12th edition of the Doha Jewellery & Watches Exhibition, held under the patronage of H.E Shaikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Prime Minister of the State of Qatar, at the Qatar National Convention Centre between February 24 and 28, 2015. Qatar National Bank continues to officially sponsor the exhibition in its 12th edition.

During a press conference held recently in Doha, the Qatar Tourism Authority confirmed that the Doha Jewellery & Watches Exhibition will proudly house over 500 of the most prestigious international jewellery and watches brands. More

First Diamond Export from Trial Mining at Baoule Kimberlite, Guinea

The Company recently undertook its first diamond export from Baoulé. A parcel of 941 carats, including gems up to 9 carats in size, have been safely delivered to Antwerp where they will undergo cleaning, assorting and valuation prior to a planned sale later in the month. The export was completed in accordance with the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme and export royalties were paid in Guinea in accordance with local mining law. This first sale will test the market for the Baoulé diamonds and is expected to be the first of regular export and sales to follow during the course of 2015.

Trial mining of the five hectare Baoulé kimberlite pipe is progressing well. The pipe is currently being mined from the eastern lobe over an area of approximately 200m x 100m which provides a sufficiently large surface area to continue mining for some months to come. More

EGL appoints Menahem Sevdermish global manager of network

European Gemological Laboratory announced it has appointed Menahem Sevdermish, a founding owner of the EGC laboratory in Ramat Gan, Israel, as its global manager. In this capacity, Sevdermish will manage and oversee the diamond grading activities of all EGL affiliates and will direct the network's global policies and communications. Sevdermish is a globally well-known and respected gemologist who has operated an EGL-affiliated laboratory since 1981. In a statement, EGL thanked and congratulated Mr. Sevdermish for taking this significant task upon his shoulders, noting that he is a formidable gemologist with a world-wide reputation as a laboratory manager, researcher and innovator. "His broad experience, his dedication to gemology and his passion for the joint venture will be highly valuable in taking the EGL network into calmer, mainstream waters." More
