ANTWERP's Diamond MISSION TO ANGOLA TO BOOST DIAMOND REVENUE AND INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT

The arrival of a powerful delegation of 20 Antwerp diamond company CEO’s in the capital Luanda, in a mission organized by the Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC) and the Belgian Embassy under the auspices of the Angolan Ministry of Minerals and Petroleum (MIREMPET), signals a renewed interest from both Antwerp and Angola to collaborate more closely in the diamond industry.
In 2018, just months after taking office, President Lourenço visited Antwerp, Belgium, the world’s largest, most important diamond trade hub. Acknowledging hardly any of Angola’s rough diamonds were traded directly on the Antwerp market for decades, Lourenço repeated his ambition to reform the Angolan diamond industry and collaborate closely with Antwerp, widely considered the most powerful and transparent trade hub in the world.
