The first ever International Diamond conference organized by FICCI titled “Opportunities Led Growth”, was well received by the Gem and Jewellery industry. Ms Anita Agnihotri, development commissioner, SEEPZ Special Economic Zone, was the guest of honour during the conference and on her inaugural session called upon the industry to implement initiatives in education and training which could in turn maintain attrition level in the industry and will help in taking out quality products.
Mr Sushil Jiwarajka, Chairman Western regional council, opened the seminar with a positive note and opined that the world Gem and Jewellery industry is showing signs of revival and was happy about the role FICCI would be playing for the Gem and Jewellery industry.

There were a number of topics and panel discussions covered during the seminar which threw light on some important needs like formation of a separate ministry for the industry, increasing employment opportunities, and thrust on education and training. Vasant Mehta, Chairman GJEPC was categorical in presenting Indian industries strength and called for more such activities to be organized for the industry.
